Experiences of students living on-campus differ from off-campus students at Michigan State University. Kelsey
Patten lives on-campus in Rather Hall of Brody neighborhood and likes that
there is a full kitchen on her floor including free laundry and a huge study
lounge. There is a workout room in her building right upstairs that she utilizes rather than
having to go to IM West. Patten said living on-campus allows her to meet a lot more people
and be more involved in school by always knowing what is going on.
Allison Castiglione lives
off-campus in Campus Village apartments and finds that she likes living off
campus because she has her own kitchen and is able to cook her own meals rather
than eating in cafeterias. Castiglione gets her own bedroom, which she said she likes because
of the privacy and alone time that she needs once in a while. She said she really likes
the amenities downstairs of the building like the tanning room and the gym. Castiglione said it is nice to go downstairs and workout rather than have to go all the way back on-campus to workout. Even though Castiglione is off-campus, she said she is really close to campus
anyways so it is really nice to have the best of both worlds.
